Welcome
These terms govern your use of Recur ("the app"). By downloading or using Recur, you agree to these terms.
These terms are written to be readable, not to bury things in legalese. If something is unclear, email [email protected].
Who I Am
Recur is built and maintained by an independent individual developer — not a company, startup, or organization of any kind. When these terms say "I", "me", or "the developer", they refer to that one person. When they say "we" or "our", that is also the same individual — a stylistic choice, not a corporate one.
There is no team, no legal entity, no investor backing. Just one developer building something useful.
The App
Recur is a personal finance tracking tool. It helps you monitor subscriptions, loans, EMIs, and credit card bills. It runs entirely on your device, stores all data locally, and does not require an account of any kind.
Recur is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind — express, implied, statutory, or otherwise. This includes, but is not limited to, implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. The developer does not guarantee that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, accurate, or suitable for any specific purpose.
You use the app at your own risk.
Not Financial Advice
Recur is a personal tracking tool only. Nothing in the app — including balance summaries, payment projections, interest estimates, exchange rate conversions, or any other displayed figure — constitutes financial, investment, tax, accounting, or legal advice.
- The developer is not a licensed financial advisor, accountant, or legal professional.
- Do not make financial decisions based solely on data displayed in Recur.
- Always consult a qualified professional for advice specific to your situation.
Your Responsibilities
- You are responsible for the accuracy of data you enter into the app.
- You are responsible for maintaining backups of your data (via local JSON export or optional Google Drive backup, if premium).
- You are responsible for keeping your device secure. All data is stored locally — anyone with access to your unlocked device can access your Recur data.
- You are responsible for understanding that Recur is a tracking tool, not a financial management system.
Premium Purchase
Recur offers a one-time premium upgrade:
- Price: $3.99 USD (one-time, not a subscription)
- Access: Lifetime — no recurring fees, ever.
- Platform: Purchased through Google Play Store.
- Refunds: Handled by Google Play under their refund policy. The developer does not process refunds directly and has no access to your payment information.
- Restore: If you switch devices, restore your purchase via Settings > Premium > Restore Purchase using the same Google Play account.
Premium unlocks unlimited subscriptions, loans, credit cards, profiles, categories, payment methods, and optional Google Drive backup. Free users retain access to core features with quantity limits. The developer reserves the right to adjust what is included in free vs. premium tiers in future versions, with reasonable notice.
Exchange Rates
Recur provides currency conversion using a 3-tier fallback system (exchangerate-api.com, fawazahmed0 GitHub API, frankfurter.app). Rates are cached for up to 24 hours. Bundled offline rates are used when all APIs are unavailable.
The developer makes no warranty — express or implied — regarding the accuracy, timeliness, or completeness of exchange rates.
- Rates are sourced from free public APIs and may be delayed, outdated, or incorrect.
- Do not use Recur for financial transactions, currency trading, tax calculations, or any purpose where rate precision is material.
- Only a currency code (e.g., "USD", "EUR") is sent to these APIs. No personal data, device identifiers, or account information is transmitted.
What the App Is Not
To be clear:
- Not financial advice. Recur is a tracking tool only. Nothing in the app is professional advice of any kind.
- Not a bank connection. The developer does not connect to your bank, credit card issuer, or any financial institution.
- Not a payment processor. Recur does not process, initiate, or facilitate any financial transactions.
- Not an accounting tool. Recur is designed for personal awareness, not professional bookkeeping or tax compliance.
- Not a substitute for your bank statements. Always verify critical figures against your official financial statements.
Intellectual Property
- The Recur name, logo, and branding are the intellectual property of the developer.
- All company names, logos, and trademarks displayed in the app and on this website are the property of their respective owners. This includes, but is not limited to: Netflix (Netflix, Inc.), Spotify (Spotify AB), YouTube Premium and Google (Alphabet Inc.), Amazon Prime (Amazon.com, Inc.), Apple Music (Apple Inc.), Discord (Discord Inc.), Slack (Salesforce, Inc.), Hulu (The Walt Disney Company), ChatGPT (OpenAI), Twitch (Amazon.com, Inc.), Dropbox (Dropbox, Inc.), Canva (Canva Pty Ltd), and all other subscription service names referenced in the app or on this website.
- Card network logos and names — including Visa (Visa Inc.), Mastercard (Mastercard International Incorporated), American Express (American Express Company), RuPay (National Payments Corporation of India), and others — are trademarks of their respective owners.
- The display of these names and logos in Recur and on this website is for identification purposes only, under the principle of nominative fair use, to help users recognize and track their recurring expenses. It does not imply endorsement, affiliation, or sponsorship.
No Affiliation
Recur is an independent app built by an independent individual developer. Recur is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or in any way officially connected with any of the subscription services, financial institutions, or companies whose names or logos appear in the app or on this website. All product and company names are trademarks or registered trademarks of their respective holders. Use of them does not imply any affiliation with or endorsement by them.
Nominative Fair Use
Company names and logos are displayed solely for the purpose of helping users identify and track their recurring expenses. The marks are used only to refer to the trademark holder's actual products or services, not to suggest any affiliation, endorsement, or sponsorship.
Logo Sources
Logos are sourced from publicly available resources including Simple Icons (simpleicons.org) and official brand guidelines. The developer makes reasonable efforts to use accurate, up-to-date brand assets. If you are an authorized representative of a company and would like your brand name, logo, or other intellectual property removed from the app, please email [email protected]. The developer will promptly comply with legitimate removal requests.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the developer shall not be liable for:
- Financial loss resulting from missed payments, incorrect tracking, inaccurate figures, or reliance on any data displayed in the app.
- Missed reminders due to device settings, OS restrictions, battery optimization, manufacturer modifications, or any other reason outside the developer's control.
- Data loss resulting from device failure, app uninstallation, OS updates, storage corruption, or failure to maintain your own backups.
- Exchange rate discrepancies between rates displayed in the app and actual prevailing market rates.
- Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the app, even if the developer has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
The developer's total cumulative liability to you, for any and all claims, shall not exceed the amount you paid for the app (USD $3.99, or $0.00 for free users).
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of liability for certain types of damages. In such jurisdictions, liability is limited to the greatest extent permitted by law.
Dispute Resolution
If you have a concern or dispute, please email [email protected] first. Most issues can be resolved quickly through direct communication. Formal legal proceedings should be a last resort, not a first step.
Changes to These Terms
The developer may update these terms from time to time. Changes will be posted here with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
Changes will never retroactively alter the fundamentally offline, privacy-first nature of the app without prominent notice.
Termination
You can stop using Recur at any time by uninstalling the app. Uninstalling permanently removes all local data from your device.
If you enabled Google Drive backup, your backup files remain in your Google Drive until you manually delete them — the developer has no ability to delete them on your behalf.
There is no account to close, no data retention period, and no post-uninstall obligations on either side.
Governing Law
These terms are interpreted under applicable consumer protection laws of your jurisdiction. Nothing in these terms is intended to limit rights you may have under the mandatory consumer protection laws of the country or region where you reside. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be subject to the jurisdiction of courts competent to hear consumer matters where you are located.
Good Faith Commitment
The developer operates in good faith and respects intellectual property rights. The goal of Recur is to help users manage their recurring expenses, not to infringe on anyone's trademarks. The developer will always cooperate with trademark holders and remove any content upon legitimate request.
